What better way to automate your online business than to have your google analytics reports emailed to you on either, daily, weekly, quarterly periods? Unfortunately the new format of Google Analytics until now doesn’t have the email feature on yet :(

One of my clients asked me to schedule his reports for him and I couldn’t find it :( So I switched back to the old version and here is how I did it to save you the time and effort:

Step 1 : Go to the report that you would like emailed to you for example visitor overview and click on the Email tab above the Report title (see screenshot below)

How to Google Analytics

Step 2 : Click on the schedule tab and fill in the fields and choose the interval you want to receive the email report, as well as the format – what ever format works best with you and your team (PDF, XML, CSV or TSV).

Easy? :)

I scheduled to receive pdf and this is what it should look like :

Not bad right?
Hope it helped.

If you wish to have this set up for you coz you are just tooooooooo busy I’d be happy to help for a minimal fee ask me by sending me an email here.

A lot of people say your website is your new age calling card but really it is your domain. How are they going to remember your awesome site if the domain is just toooooo hard to remember right? So buying the right domain is the first thing you should consider when doing online business. Take advantage of the discount I found from godaddy.com

Have you ever experienced losing all your valuable files when your computer dies or crashes? Well I have! And let me tell you it is the worst feeling in the world because you know backing up your files is the right thing to do and you always tend to put it off another day and another and another. Thinking its not going to happen just yet. Guess what ? You will never know when, I’ve had a new computer 3 months old that just crashed, I had an old one with a new hard drive of less than one year that crashed. So its really unpredictable.

So that is a problem right? As always I will try to share to you my unprofessional suggestions and opinion on different options. I am not an expert on back up but it helps to hear what others who have tried it have to say right? so listen up :)

Option 1: External Hard Drive

There are a lot of external desktop and portable hard drives available with spaces in Terabyte. I am personally using the Western Digital My Book Essential 1 TB USB 3.0/2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive(view specs), I’ve had it for almost a year now and it’s doing well. It has a software that helps you manage it all but I preferred the good old copy and paste method. It’s so simple just plugged it in via USB and there it is :) I remember I had to format it though before using it. But that was the only effort I did. Now I actually use that as my hard drive for my computer and just temporary files on my actual computer so now it works even faster than before.

Option 2: Online Back up Sites

1. There are a lot of options I will try to enumerate some but I personally love and have been using Dropbox.com, you get 2GB free space which you can upgrade. If you share it with your friends using the share link they provide they give you more space upto 3GB. Not bad. It also syncs into my computer, so I don’t need to worry about uploading the latest copy. You can share folders with your team, you can even see the activity on the folders and files. Cool stuff.

2.I was lucky enough to have the experience of using another site named Box.net . To be honest, I loved this too because you get to preview the docs you have so you know the files you want to download, it syncs and it takes note of versions of each file. You can create web docs which is awesome too. However I thought it was a bit pricey for me for the paid version, they do have a free version that offers 1 user only 5 to 50 GB space. But if you have an outsourced team this is something you should try to look into. So all your source files will be there, photoshop files, images, stock photos you purchased. Like a repository where the whole team can use it.

Whichever option you go for, you are already a winner for taking action. It’s important to keep your files safe.

On my next post I will feature several options for backing up your wordpress site, watch out for that!

Talk to you soon.
